The Real Structure of the Turkish Cobot Welding Market

In 2025, interest in welding automation in Türkiye reached a peak. Metal manufacturers, particularly in Central Anatolia, are missing orders due to a shortage of skilled welders and losing customers due to inconsistent quality. This situation is dramatically accelerating demand for cobots — but you need to understand how they work inside before entering the market.

Companies selling welding cobots in Türkiye in three different categories It works. Failing to understand this distinction can lead to buying the wrong system from the wrong vendor, resulting in a failed investment.

Category A — Project-Based Integrators

They design the system specifically for your factory. Fixtures, safety cells, software, cable trays — everything is project-specific. Delivery time is 3–8 months, initial cost is €60,000–€150,000. You are dependent on them for maintenance and schedule changes. It might make sense for large-volume, mass-production factories — but it's overly complex and expensive for most SMEs.

Category B — Hardware Distributors Only

They sell you the robotic arm or welding machine, and the rest is up to you. You'll need to outsource compatibility testing, integration, and commissioning to other companies. The initial cost seems low, but the total cost is often the highest across all categories.

Category C — Pre-built System (Turnkey)

Robot arm + welding machine + torch + software + installation included, delivered factory tested. Astoryas in this category: ROKAE CR12 + ESAB Aristo 500ix + TBi RM2 82W, with Turkish software configuration and a 5-day installation guarantee.

5 Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Buying

// Question 01 — What type of welding do you do?

MIG/MAG or TIG? Steel or stainless steel? 1mm thin sheet metal or 10mm thick profile? This answer determines the DC capacity, the appropriate ESAB model, and the TBi torch diameter. A "system that welds everything" doesn't actually weld any of them well.

// Question 02 — What is your part variety and batch size?

If you're producing 200 of the same part per day, the ROI is maximum. If you're making 10 different parts per day, the ROI of the ROKAE xCore becomes critical — you can recall saved programs in 30 seconds. Variety can be an advantage, not an obstacle, for the cobot.

// Question 03 — To what level is your dependency on a welder?

Şu an kaç usta kaynakçınız var, ne sıklıkla değişiyorlar? Her kaynakçı değişiminde işe alım + uyum süreci kaybı yılda 80.000–150.000 TL'ye denk gelebilir. Bu hesap, cobotun geri ödeme süresini en az %15 kısaltır.

// Question 04 — Do you have the maintenance capacity?

What will you do if the system malfunctions? Local technical service, spare parts stock, and a commitment to respond within 24 hours. Astoryas is based in Istanbul; TBI consumables are in stock in Türkiye, with same-day shipping.

// Question 5 — When do you want to start production?

Do you have the patience for a 3-8 month integration process? If orders are piling up, a ready-made system is the only reasonable option. Our 5-business-day delivery guarantee is absolute — the system will be up and running when it arrives.

Red Flags to Watch Out For When Buying

Some offers on the market seem attractive at first, but they can create serious problems later on. Recognizing these beforehand can save thousands of Euros.

  • "Distributors who say, "You'll handle the integration"— Buying the robotic arm and outsourcing the rest to another company creates additional costs far exceeding the initial savings. Integration projects are often delayed and exceed budget.
  • IP54 or lower protection class — Unsuitable for the aggressive conditions of the welding environment. Splatter, metallic dust, and moisture will damage the electronics over the years. It may void the warranty.
  • If there is no physical service in Türkiye — ""You'll get support from Europe" isn't enough. Every day of production stoppage translates directly into costs.
  • Hidden software licensing cost — Find out the annual mandatory license fee upfront. Some systems have annual license fees of €3,000–€8,000 — this significantly alters the ROI calculation.
  • To have a monopoly on supplies — If torch consumables (nozzle, contact tip, liner) are tied to a single vendor and are expensive, operating costs will exceed expectations. TBI consumables are in stock at market prices by Astoryas.
  • ""Perfect in demo, different in delivery" syndrome — Clearly define the factory acceptance test and delivery terms in the contract. Astoryas provides a pre-delivery integration test report.

TBI RM2 82W Torch System:
Choosing the Right Cobot for Welding

Astoria Technical Team

// 01

What is the TBi RM2 82W System?

TBi Industries is one of Europe's leading brands in robotic welding torch systems, adhering to German engineering standards. Astoryas is TBi Industries' authorized integrator in Türkiye. TBI RM2 82W This series is the standard torch package for all Astoryas ready-to-use welding systems.

The "RM" in the name refers to a round-mount system, and "82W" refers to... dual water channel cooling konfigürasyonunu temsil eder. Bu sistem, robot kaynak uygulamalarının %100 duty cycle — yani kesintisiz çalışma — gereksinimlerini karşılamak üzere tasarlanmıştır.

82W — Dual Channel Water Cooling System

The "W" configuration of the TBi RM2 82W features two separate cooling channels running along the torch. dual water channel It describes the system. This critical design detail provides significant advantages over single-channel systems in robotic welding applications.

Single Channel vs. Dual Channel — The Technical Difference

In single-channel systems, the coolant flows unidirectionally from the torch inlet to the outlet. In this arrangement, the temperature in the center of the torch rises during the return flow of the coolant, and heat cannot be distributed homogeneously. In high-current continuous welding applications, the torch life is shortened.

In a dual-channel system, coolant water flows through all components. It flows in parallel through two separate channels. — one forward, one backward. The results of this design are:

  • Homogeneous heat distribution — The torch is cooled evenly along its entire length.
  • Long torch life — Maintenance intervals are extended as thermal stress decreases.
  • High current stability — Arc stability is maintained during continuous operation at 400–500A.
  • The hose pack temperature drops — Critical for operator safety and cable lifespan.
// In which applications is it mandatory?

For continuous welding above 300A, stainless steel MIG, aluminum MIG, welding of thick profiles with high heat deposition, and long arc duration series production, dual-channel water cooling is a mandatory requirement. The ESAB Aristo 500ix + TBi RM2 82W combination meets all of these parameters.

TCP Stability — A Critical Parameter of Robot Resources

TCP (Tool Center Point) is the fundamental reference point that allows the robot to hold the programmed welding point with millimeter precision. TBi RM2's round-mount (RM) mounting system, TCP offers superior stability compared to traditional connections.

RM (Round-Mount) Connection Advantage

In traditional torch connections, the neck is attached to the robot flange with a screw or wedge system. Under vibration and thermal expansion, it loosens over time, leading to TCP deflection. In the RM system, the torch neck... with circular locking mechanism connects:

  • TCP is automatically restored after neck replacement — no recalibration is required.
  • This prevents loosening of the connection under vibration.
  • Torch neck change time is less than 30 seconds.
  • Guaranteed to lock into the same position with every change.

""The combination of ROKAE CR12's ±0.03mm robot accuracy and TBi RM2's ±0.1mm TCP stability keeps the overall system accuracy within the 0.1mm range."'

Mechanical compatibility with ROKAE CR12

The TBi RM2 82W is mounted to the ROKAE CR12's ISO 9283 standard 100mm flange using a special mounting adapter. This adapter is used in Astoryas systems. Factory fitted and tested. It is delivered as is.

Hose Pack — Optimized for Robot Movement

The TBi hose package is an integrated structure that houses the power cable, coolant lines, gas hose, and control cables, all included with the 82W torch system, under a single sheath. It is the most critical component in the system, which is subjected to stress from robot joint movements.

Astoryas' hose package specifications for ROKAE CR12 installations:

  • Length: 4.2 m (customizable according to robot working area)
  • Spiral winding: The robot maximizes the lifespan of flexion and bending joints during movement.
  • Dual cooling channels: Forward + reverse flow, 3–4 L/min capacity.
  • Case material: High abrasion resistant, heat-insulating polyurethane.
  • Gas type: CO₂, Ar/CO₂ mixture, pure Ar compatible
// 6-Month Maintenance Checklist

Periodically check the integrity of the casing, coolant connections, and spiral winding condition. Torch life can be extended 2–3 times if wear or kinking damage is detected early. This check is standard in the Astoryas periodic maintenance package.
